Haven't Driven Your Car in Weeks? Check Out These Tips

Has your car been sitting in your driveway or garage for the last few weeks, or longer?

With many of us working from home, coupled with lockdowns and restrictions, many are finding that their vehicles have been sitting for days or even weeks without being driven.

Not surprisingly, this can lead to mechanical issues with your vehicle. So, if you can’t remember the last time you drove your vehicle, you might want to consider these tips before going for a Sunday drive;

Check Your Tires

Look for damage and check the inflation

Look Under the Hood

Make sure no squirrels or other animals have been escaping the elements in there

Test All of Your Lights

Brakes, turn signals, four-ways, reverse, and headlights. It’s easier with a helper!

Check Your Fluid Levels

Oil, coolant, brake fluid, power steering, and windshield washer fluids

Turn-up the Heat

Start your vehicle and make sure the defrost system is working

Check Your Dashboard Display

Look for any alerts, tire pressure, battery light, etc.

Run the Engine or Take it for a Spin

Let your vehicle run at idle (outside) for a few minutes or take it for spin around the block

If you notice any issues, be sure to contact a licensed mechanic.
